Sweet times to roll on for 73rd Portageville Soybean Festival

A 73-year tradition is returning to Portageville, Mo., despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Portageville Chamber of Commerce is planning a full week of fun for the annual Soybean Festival.

Event organizers say they put a lot of thought and consideration into holding the decades-old event to make sure it’s safe for everyone involved.

This year’s theme is “Let the Sweet Times Roll.”

The fun kicked off on Sunday, Oct. 4, and continues through Saturday, October 10.

Here is a schedule of events:

  • Sunday: National Soybean Beauty Pageant, 2 p.m. at the Grand Stage on Main Street
  • Monday: 5th Annual Virtual Talen Show at 7 p.m. on Facebook
  • Tuesday: Kiddie Parade at 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday: community Worship Service at 7 p.m. on Main Street
  • Thursday: Grand Parade at 7 p.m.
  • Friday: PHS Homecoming Ceremony at 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: Main Street Madness from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Bean Bash from 8 p.m. to midnight
