Perryville: Home to Missouri’s oldest running carousel

Take a ride at the annual Seminary Picnic

A picnic will take over the Seminary fairgrounds in Perryville for the 119th year.

This is “where friends meet friends from everywhere” on Friday, August 2 through Sunday, August 4.

carouselThe annual tradition includes one of the oldest carousels in Missouri.

Bill Wingerter Sr. has been coming to the picnic for more than 60 years. He says the carousel has entertained crowds both young and old for more than 90 years.

Wingerter says its a love for the tradition that keeps the carousel going round and round each year.

Hopefully, it will stay that way for generations to come.

Go for a ride this Heartland Weekend.

The Seminary Picnic includes hand-crafted quilt and cash prize bingos, concessions, live entertainment, and rides for the kids.

Trust us, you won’t want to miss the famous all-you-can-eat chicken and beef dinners, served buffet style.

Fill up a plate from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Folks in Perryville also claim the homemade vanilla ice cream served up here is famous.

The event is sponsored by St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
