Celebrate Independence Day with a boom

There’s no shortage of things to do to celebrate Independence Day. Whether it’s a historical reenactment, a festival, or a fireworks display, you’re sure to find a fun way to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Here is your guide to festivals and major events to mark on your calendar! Be sure to check back for updates as we get them.


East Prairie Sweet Corn Season
June 28-July 4

East Prairie
The annual festival kicks off on Friday, June 28 with a party on Main Street that includes performances, music, a corn eating contest and more! Friday night wraps up with the first round of fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Saturday begins with the Tour de Corn, lots of games, and ends with a lip sync battle. Sunday is filled with pageants. The fun picks up again on Wednesday, July 3 with a Community Tailgate Party, a live performance by the Brothers Walker, and fireworks. Thursday includes a 4th of July Parade and another fireworks display. CLICK HERE for all the specifics.

2019 Portageville Community Day
June 28-29

The Portageville Jaycees will host two days of fun at Meatte Memorial Park. The weekend kicks off at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 28. Friday will feature a yard pong tournament, watermelon eating contest, and live music at 8 p.m. Saturday kicks off at 9 a.m. There will be a Ms. 4th of July Pageant, talent competition, cornhole tournament, and live music. Fireworks will take place on Saturday at 9 p.m.

5th Annual Independence Day Celebration
June 28-29

The annual celebration will take place at Graviett’s Memorial Ball Field. Things kick off Friday at 5 p.m. with a pageant, fish fry, and live music. There will be a parade starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday followed by a pageant at 5 p.m. The fireworks will begin around 9:15 p.m.

Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks at the Lake
June 29

Bring your lawn chair, family, and friends to enjoy a day at Wappapello Lake while we celebrate the 4th of July a bit early! There will be various activities and games, music, and concessions available throughout the day at Redman Creek Recreation Area. Fireworks will be shot off at dusk!

Oak Ridge
Everyone is invited for a free fireworks display at Cowboy Church on June 30. The event runs from 8-10 p.m.

July 3rd Annual Veterans Home Fireworks Show
July 3

Cape Girardeau
The members of VFW Post 3838 invite you to Shelter #8 in Cape County Park (North) for the Veterans Home Firework Show. They’ll be serving hotdogs, brats, hamburgers, pork-kabobs and more! The fireworks show which is synched to music will start around 9 p.m.

City of Perryville Fireworks
July 3

The city of Marble Hill will host a fireworks show on Wednesday. The fun starts at 5 p.m. with free hotdogs, popcorn, and candy. There will also be a bouncy house for kids 12 and under. The fireworks start at dark.

The Rotary Club of Perryville will host a fireworks display on July 3. The fireworks are set off in the city park. They will begin at dark or approximately 9:00.

Historical Blodgett 4th of July

This event features food, fun, live music, games for kids, melon games for adults and a huge firework display.

The soldiers of Fort D were very patriotic. At the national holiday, they would celebrate by firing their rifles and cannon and flying their flags proudly. Come join us as we celebrate the birth of our nation.

Grab a lawn chair or picnic blanket and head over to Arena Park for a spectacular fireworks show at 9:15 p.m. The park and grandstand opens for spectators at 7 p.m. Entertainment will begin at 8 p.m.

4th of July Celebration at Harmon Field & Chaffee Swimming Pool
July 4

Join us for a 4th of July Celebration! The sandlot game for adults ages 18 and up will begin at 4:30 p.m. There will be a cornhole tournament for people ages 10 and up at 6 p.m. There will be food available for purchase. The pool will be open from 1-9 p.m. and there will be a bounce house for kids. The pool deck will be open from 9-10 to watch the fireworks. Fireworks will begin at dusk.

Clarkton Fireworks Display
July 4

The day will begin at the Clarkton City Park where vendors will be set up from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A parade will roll down Main Street starting at 6 p.m. Then the fireworks display will begin around 7:30 p.m.

Fireworks Over Farmington
July 4

The annual Fireworks Show will begin at 9 PM behind Ragsdale Field in Engler Park. Join us beforehand from 6-9 PM for free games, live music, and bounce houses! Food Trucks will be available as well. Come celebrate Independence Day with Farmington Parks and Recreation!

4th of July Community Event

The Fredericktown Area Optimist Club along with the City of Fredericktown and the Madison County Chamber of Commerce would like to invite you to the Madison County’s 4th of July Firework display and celebration. Activities include a dunking booth, face painting, carnival games, corn hole, washers, Plinko, music and much more! Items available for purchase include food and drinks from the Optimist Club, snow cones, and lots of arts and craft items.

Independence Day Celebration
July 4

Jackson’s big annual event, which for decades has been one of the best Independence Day celebrations in the area, is back again this year with more fun-filled events and activities for everyone. The celebration will include live music, cars, a fun run, helicopter rides, a rubber duck race, golf ball drop, food vendors, and live entertainment preceding a great fireworks display. Mud volleyball also returns this year with another double-elimination co-ed tournament that kicks off at 8:30 a.m. Don’t miss Shades of Soul and the Jackson Municipal Band when the groups perform live at the band shell. Fireworks will begin at the city park at dusk.

Enjoy a “church dinner” with ice cream, bingo, horseshoes, and fireworks at the Guardian Angels Knights of Columbus Hall.

Fireworks at the Greenway

The event begins with a parade down Main Street at 7 p.m. The fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. There will be some food trucks set up in the Greenway as well.

July 4 in Downtown Poplar Bluff

Poplar Bluff
Each 4th of July, Downtown Poplar Bluff hosts a list of events and activities for the whole family including a parade, pageant, DJ, vendors, food trucks, and an impressive fireworks show.

Start your celebration with a festive parade. It’ll start at 9 a.m. and begin at Hydro Adventures, follow the ditch road all the way to Vine Street, up Main Street and end in the parking lot of the Black River Coliseum.

The celebration begins at noon with a church bell ringing, the Pledge of Allegiance, patriotic speeches, and music at the courthouse square. That evening, the Muny Band will perform patriotic music, and at dusk, Fireworks will explode in Ste. Genevieve’s Pere Marquette Park.

The celebration begins at 5 p.m. with music at Arrowhead Lake Amphitheater. There will be vendors, food, and fun for the kids. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. You’re encouraged to bring your lawn chairs and blankets.

Salute to Freedom
July 1-4

Mount Vernon
This 3-day carnival includes rides, games, food vendors, a parade and a fireworks display in the park. On July 4 at 10 a.m., the Veteran’s Parade is held along West Broadway and finishes at Fairview Park. Fireworks begin at dark. Great entertainment for all ages.

Red, Wine and Brews Celebration + Car, Truck, & Bike Show
July 3

The car show will take place from 4-6 p.m. Live music starts at 6 p.m. There will be a fireworks display at sunset. You can enjoy food and drink specials throughout the day.

4th of July Fireworks Display
July 4

The City of Anna Fire Department will be hosting the annual fireworks display on Thursday, July 4 at the Anna City Park at dusk.  In the event of rain, the date will be changed to Friday, July 5.  Come out and join the celebration. Please remember, parking in the cemetery is prohibited.

Carbondale Fireworks Display
July 4

The City of Carbondale will host its annual fireworks display on Wednesday, July 4 on the campus of Southern Illinois University. The show is scheduled to start at 9:15 p.m. Parking will be available at the Banterra Center lots. CLICK HERE for information about parking for the show. In the event of rain, the fireworks will take place on Friday, July 5 at 9:15 p.m.

Carmi Lions Club 4th of July Car, Truck, Motorcycle, & Tractor Show
July 4

The 12th Annual show will be held at the White County Fairgrounds on Highway 14 West. In addition to the car, truck, motorcycle & tractor show, there will be live music, games, and food. In the event of rain, the show will be held on Saturday, July 6.

Eldorado 4th of July Celebration
July 4

The celebration will be held at the Eldorado Sports Complex. The festivities kick off around 5:30 pm with the Dollars for Scholars 5K race, Last Call Band, bounce houses for the kids, and several local food vendors. The largest and longest running local fireworks show starts at approximately 9: 00 pm. Entry is free and lawn chairs are welcome. This great celebration is brought to you by The Eldorado Men’s Club and its generous sponsors.

Freedom Fest 2019
July 4

The event kicks off at 9 a.m. at the city park and will include a corn-hole tournament, kids fun zone, kids parade, live music, and fireworks.

4th at the Park
July 4

Everyone is invited to Front and West Streets for the Auto Show. Registration for the show runs from 10 a.m. until noon. Judging is at 3 p.m. and awards will be handed out at 5 p.m. There will be music by the Holler Boys. BBQ, burgers, hot dogs and wings will also be available for purchase. A fireworks display will take place at 10 p.m. All money raised goes to help with training and equipment for Tamms Firefighters.

Fireworks over the Lake

Fireworks on Saturday the 6. Rainout will be on Sunday, July 7. Fireworks set off at Elk’s Lake of Egypt property near the spillway.

2019 Rend Lake Fireworks
July 6

Rend Lake
The 2019 Rend Lake Fireworks Festival will take place on Saturday, July 6 at the Rend Lake Dam and Spillway Recreation Area. The fireworks will begin at 9:00 pm and will be visible for miles around. Parking is available around the dam/spillway area, Dam West, North Marcum, and South Sandusky camping areas. Donations of $5 are appreciated to cover event costs. These areas will provide prime viewing for locals, campers, and visitors alike. Leading up to the fireworks, family-friendly activities and fun for all ages will begin at 2 pm. That includes a petting zoo from 4-8 p.m. and inflatables for kids.


Freedom Fest
July 4

Celebrate Independence Day in Murray, Kentucky, on July 4 with Freedom Fest! Family fun and patriotic spirit await you during this jam-packed day of events. The FNB Bank Freedom Fest Parade marches down Main Street at 9:30 a.m., as thousands of locals and visitors line the streets. Then, the evening hours are filled with activities for kids at The Murray Bank Family Night in the Park, featuring vendors, inflatables, a free concert and more at Central Park. Hear the sounds of our country when the Murray State University Town & Gown Community Band present its Freedom Fest Concert of American Music at 8 p.m in Lovett Auditorium. The program is free, and the public is cordially invited.
Freedom Fest goes out with a bang during everyone’s favorite event, the Briggs & Stratton / The Murray Bank Fireworks Extravaganza at 9:30 p.m.

Independence Day Celebration
July 4

The City of Paducah invites your entire family to the riverfront for the Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 4 to enjoy a full day of family fun with food, fireworks, a large-scale community art project, and free entertainment on Wilson Stage and along Broadway and Jefferson just inside of 3rd Street. Food vendors begin serving by 1 p.m. on Water Street between Kentucky and Broadway with live music and entertainment beginning at 4 p.m. on Wilson Stage and on Broadway inside of 3rd Street. Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. with the fireworks discharged from a barge.
