Drums Along the Mississippi.
What does that even mean?
First of all, it means beautiful music performed by several drum corps.
It also means an evening of entertainment.
What is a drum corps?
The show is a part of the Drum Corps International summer tour.
If you aren’t familiar with DCI, the organization describes itself as marching music’s major league.
The corps consist of musicians between the ages of 13 to 22 from around the country.
They are open to brass players, percussionists, color guard performers, drum majors, and front ensemble musicians.
After auditioning for a corps, students spend months preparing for the months-long tour across the country.
The corps perform shows from June through August, culminating with the championship in mid-August.
