The Backstory

There’s a story behind this quick and easy do-it-yourself milkshake recipe.

14 years ago Kia Usher traveled to New York City and fell in love with Italian ice. After years of research and preparation, Kia and her husband decided to take a chance and started selling Italian ice on the weekends.

The residents of the famously hot Columbia, South Carolina decided they loved bringing smiles to their customers and after a short while, Kia made the decision to resign from her job at a big bank and focus on their sweet dream full time.

Brain Freeze LLC. on Knox Abbot Drive in Cayce, South Carolina is the brick and mortar iteration of that dream, and it is delicious. The shop is just minutes from downtown Columbia, SC.

You can get Italian ice, ice cream, milkshakes, giant ice cream sandwiches made with homemade chocolate chip cookies,  banana splits, bubble waffles, homemade gourmet kettle corn, cotton candy, and more.
