Christmas at Dollywood: Dolly Parton to appear in new movie

Dolly Parton, singer, songwriter, actress, and American treasure is bringing her talents–and her theme park–to the Hallmark Channel.

In fact, “Christmas at Dollywood” will be part of the network’s annual Countdown to Christmas.

Danica McKellar is set to star in the movie. Her character, Rachel Lewis, is a single mom and award-winning Broadway producer who learns her latest ‘holiday extravaganza’ has gone bankrupt and the show won’t go on.

That’s when she learns about a new opportunity in Tennessee at–you guessed it!–Dollywood!

McKellar’s character will produce a show for the 20th anniversary of the Smoky Mountain Christmas festival. But, she’ll have to work with a long-time employee, Lake Hakman, who hopes the Christmas show will help propel him to a big promotion.

Rachel and her young daughter leave the hustle and bustle of New York for the Appalachians. On the way, she comes up with the perfect idea for the big show. But, she’ll have to convince a skeptical Luke that it’s the perfect plot.

It’s got all the things Hallmark movie lovers are looking for: the magic of Christmas, a little romance, and, of course, a happy ending.

Dollywood’s namesake will also make an appearance in the movie.

“Dolly Parton is a bright light who is rich in spirit, kindness, and love. ‘Christmas At Dollywood’ features Danica McKellar in a story about finding love and new beginnings in the most familiar place — home.” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, Programming & Publicity, Crown Media Family Networks.

You can watch the movie this holiday season during the ‘Countdown to Christmas.’
