RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ill. (Heartland News) - The annual Fort de Chartres Winter Rendezvous is happening this November.
The event will take place at the Fort de Chartres State Historic Site on Saturday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, November 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Organizers say the event will feature 18th and early 19th-century camp life, with colorful clothing, handmade crafts, period music and food available.
Soldiers, trappers, traders, and Native Americans, portrayed by historic re-enactors, will gather at the rendezvous, trading goods, buying supplies and taking part in a shooting contest at the historic French colonial fort.
The event is free and open to the public.
