MAKANDA, Ill. (HEARTLAND WEEKEND) - For bat lovers and folks with green thumbs, Giant City State Park has the event for you!
Join Illinois Extension Horticulture Educator Kim Rohling at the Giant City State Park Visitors Center on Wednesday, October 14, to learn how to create a bat-friendly garden in your own backyard by supporting dark skies, planting native species, preserving trees and snags, and removing invasive plants.
Organizers say this program also includes a bat box review and explores how citizen science can help monitor and protect local bat populations.
The event goes from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
