CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Heartland News) - The Cape Girardeau Police Department will implement special traffic and parking restrictions during the 2026 SEMO District Fair and the parade.
“No Parking” signs will be enforced beginning Saturday, September 12, at 6 a.m. Police warned that any vehicles parked in restricted areas will be towed at the owner’s expense and drivers may face traffic citations.
Additional parking restrictions go into effect Friday in Capaha Park, North West End Boulevard and Perry Avenue ahead of the SEMO District Fair Parade on Saturday.
The parade is scheduled to begin Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Drivers and participants should prepare for the following logistics and closures:
- Capaha Park: The park will close Saturday at 5 a.m. only to vehicles registered in the parade. Parade entries must enter from Broadway and Perry Avenue. No southbound traffic will be allowed at Perry Avenue and Dunklin Street.
- Drop-off Point: People dropping off parade participants must use the intersection of West End Boulevard and Normal Street at the park entrance. Dropping off participants on Broadway at the park entrance is prohibited.
- Road Closures: West End Boulevard will close between Broadway and Parkview streets at 7 a.m. to allow the parade to form. During the parade, closures will affect Broadway west of West End Boulevard, Kingshighway between Broadway and Cape Rock Drive, and Kingshighway from Hopper Road to Kiwanis Drive.

Separately, parking at Police Headquarters (2530 Maria Louise Lane) and Municipal Court (2536 Maria Louise Lane) will be strictly reserved for official business only from Sept. 12 through Sept. 19. Unauthorized vehicles will be towed.
