Highway 61 Yard Sale gets underway; drivers urged to be cautious

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI (Heartland News) - The Labor Day weekend is kicking off early with an annual miles-long yard sale through parts of southeast Missouri.

The Highway 61 Yard Sale gets underway on Thursday, September 3, through Saturday, Sept. 5.

Sellers and vendors will be set up along the highway from Jackson to Festus.

Drivers are urged to be extremely cautious traveling along the sales route.

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office wants drivers to be on the lookout for people crossing the highway, people walking between parked vehicles, unexpected slowing and stopping vehicles, drivers pulling away and entering the shoulder of the road and increased congestion.

The sheriff’s office also said deputies will be conducting extra patrols along the route.
