MAKANDA, Ill. (Heartland News) - A two-day event will offer a chance for families to meet the residents of a Heartland alpaca farm.
On Saturday and Sunday, September 19-20, people can head out to Rolling Oak Alpaca Ranch in Makanda.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both days, visitors can stroll through the alpaca pastures to pet, feed and pose for photos with the female herd members.
Feed cups are also available at $1 per cup.
There will be spinning and weaving demonstrations by Black Sheep Fiber Guild.

Alpaca fiber products will be available for purchase in the barn boutique.
There will be a free coloring station for children, and a craft station with items for purchase.
Teresa’s Sweet Treats of Southern Illinois will offer paint-your-own-cookies.
On Sunday, The Green Mug will have cold brew coffee for sale.
Admission and parking are free. Portable restrooms will be available.

The event is rain or shine. Pets will not be permitted.
Rolling Oak Alpaca Ranch is located at 1335 Hall Church Road.
