CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Heartland News) - The First Presbyterian Church of Cape Girardeau is hosting an interfaith celebration and picnic Sunday evening at Peace Park.
According to organizers, there will be speakers from several different religions, all celebrating the First Amendment and 250 years of religious freedom.
It begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m.
There will be food at the picnic, as well as music, prayer and open conversation.
Rev. Ellen Cone is organizing the event. Tahsin Khalid will lead the prayer, St. James AME Church will lead music, Rev. Wesley Tew, Rev. Ellen Gunoon and Rabbi Rami Shapiro will lead various conversations.
