MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (Heartland News) - The 75th Murphysboro Apple Festival is set for September 9-12.
Organizers say the four-day event includes free entertainment, carnival rides, pageants, concessions, a car show and more.
The Apple Festival Grand Parade is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12.
Other events include the Apple Blossom Contest on Monday, Aug. 17, the Appletime 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, Sept. 5 the Apple Pie and Apple Butter Contest on Thursday, Sept. 10, the Appletime Fiddle & Banjo Contest on Saturday, Sept. 12 and more.
The Murphysboro Fire Department is asking people to not put any chairs out to save spots for the parade until after Sunday afternoon, August 16.

The fire department will be cleaning the sidewalks along Walnut Street on Sunday morning.
