CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Fair season is right around the corner in the Heartland, and every year brings new faces, shows and guidelines.
The SEMO District Fair has been around since 1855, making 2026 the 171st year in operation. Over that course of time, many changes have been presented.
Two primary rules are being implemented. The first is the clear bag policy. Fairgoers must use a clear bag to hold personal items. It cannot exceed 12″x6″x12, and no large purses or bags are permitted.
Another new guideline: fairgoers 15 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult at least 21 years old.
SEMO District Fair official, Darrell Augdenberg, says the responsible party has to be on the fairgrounds.
