CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Southeast Missouri Pets says it is important to pick up any firework debris today, as it can be harmful to pets.
Jenn Farmer, Executive Director at SEMO Pets, said that leftover firework debris can be dangerous to curious pets that sniff, lick or eat it.
“Keep your animals away from firework debris; it is very toxic,” Farmer said. “If they licked some, ate some, anything like that, call Poison Control right away, and do your best to get your animals in and get them taken care of. Pick up your firework debris. Be a kind human.”
Farmer said that if you believe your pet has been exposed to firework debris, call your veterinarian or Animal Poison Control right away.
