‘Paws and Patriots: A Fourth of July Celebration’ recognizes 50 years of Southeast Mo. Pets

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - A free community event will honor a local historian and founder of an area animal shelter.

The Kellerman Foundation for Historic Preservation will host Paws and Patriots: A Fourth of July Celebration on Saturday, July 4 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

It will be at the Heritage Hall parking lot, 102 North Main Street in Cape Girardeau.

According to a news release from the foundation, it will honor Dr. Frank Nickell while also recognizing Southeast Missouri Pets for its 50 years of serving the community.

You’re invited to bring your pets for the celebration.

Organizers say there will be a dog parade at 10 a.m., pet costume contest, pet and owner look-alike contest, vendors, presentations, a historical display and more.
