Starbucks pulls out of Harrisburg, Ill. opening

HARRISBURG, Ill. (KFVS) - Starbucks will no longer open a new location in Harrisburg, Illinois.

The news came from a company spokesperson and Harrisburg Mayor John McPeek.

A new store was supposed to open at the corner of U.S. Route 45 and IL Route 34/145.

The reason for not opening is unclear at this time.

“It is heartbreaking to see efforts taken away from the builder and our community. I believe a better company will emerge to serve our community in the near future. We can manage without a Starbucks. Hopefully, a new business will choose Harrisburg as its home, making a positive contribution to our community,” said McPeek.

The new building in Harrisburg is now empty and is looking for a new tenant.
