PADUCAH, Ky. (KFVS) - The City of Paducah is inviting the community to a Flag Day celebration on Monday, June 15.
Flag Day honors June 14, 1777, when the Continental Congress approved the design of the national flag.
The celebration will include a flag-raising ceremony, and County Commissioner Richard Abraham will sing the National Anthem. Paducah Mayor George Bray and McCracken County Judge Executive Craig Clymer will make remarks. There will also be educational displays and activities for kids.
The celebration will take place at Dolly McNutt Memorial Plaza, 301 South 5th Street. The event will be on the Washington Street side of the park at the flagpole. Washington Street between 5th and 6th streets will be closed for the event.
The event will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. It will go on rain or shine, unless there are storms.
The Paducah Parks & Recreation Department is organizing the event in partnership with the Sons of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Revolution, U.S. Coast Guard, McCracken County Public Library, and the City of Paducah Police and Fire Departments.
