CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - An event highlighting Cape Girardeau history, culture and music returns for 2026.

Cape Folk Fest is set for Saturday, June 6 at The Forge Cape on Morgan Oak St.

There will be folk art demonstrations and history talks to start the event:

  • 4 p.m. Local History & The Power of Place
  • 4:30 p.m. Don Greenwood interview
  • 5 p.m. Mississippi steamboat history
  • 5:30 p.m. Dulcimer demonstration by Pierce Yates

Live music will follow with acts from the Heartland and beyond:

  • 6 p.m. Missourado
  • 7:30 p.m. The Mel Pupillo Trio
  • 9 p.m. Swamp Boys

The event is free to attend and open to the public.

Weather-permitting, organizers say there will be a free tie dye booth outside the event. People can supply their own shirt or purchase one at the merch booth.

Wat’s Knots food truck will also be set up in the parking lot.

There will be a cash bar at the venue. People can bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages.
