SOUTHEAST MISSOURI (KFVS) - The Cape Area Community Foundation awarded five grants to nonprofit organizations in southeast Missouri on Thursday, May 28.
Matthew 10:8 Ministries was awarded $2,000 to purchase inventory for its outreach closet. This provides new clothing, shoes, hygiene items, bedding and other essential supplies to individuals and families in need.
Safe House of Southeast Missouri was awarded $1,000 to assist survivors of domestic abuse with attorney fees for civil matters.
Community Counseling Center Foundation was awarded $1,000 for the Question, Persuade, Refer Suicide Prevention Training initiative. It is a curriculum that helps citizens recognize suicide warning signs and to lead a person in crisis to professional care.
Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland was awarded $500 to launch school-led Girl Scout troops in the Cape Girardeau school district. This will allow troop meetings on campus after school, removing transportation barriers.

Junior Achievement of Southeast Missouri was awarded $500 to provide education programs in school, teaching financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship.
The foundation will be providing more grant opportunities this fall.
