CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - It’s America’s 250th birthday this year, and Cape Girardeau’s Riverfest will be hosting a special celebration downtown on Saturday, July 4.
According to organizers, there will be live entertainment, family activities, food and beverage vendors, and other events.
Entertainment kicks off at 3 p.m. on the main stage along Themis Street. Here’s the lineup:
- Emcee Greg Vaughn
- Cape Girardeau singer Joy Brooker
- The Ivas John Band
- Branson performer Mike Walker’s Lasting Impressions
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets and set up on the courthouse lawn terraces.
No personal fireworks will be allowed.

In addition to the main Riverfest activities, attendees are encouraged to honor America’s semiquincentennial with several other community events taking place throughout the day:
- The Riverfront Market presented by Old Town Cape - 8 a.m. to noon
- Activities hosted at Heritage Hall parking lot by The Kellerman Foundation in partnership with SEMO Pets - 9 a.m. to noon
- Fourth at The Fort! The 250th! Fort D Historic Site - 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- The Avenue of Flags dedication of the Patriot’s Pavilion - 10 a.m.
