SCOTT CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - An investigation is underway after a man died at a chemical distribution business in Scott City, Missouri, on Wednesday evening, May 20.

According to Scott County Coroner Cody Caudle, the incident happened at Yield Plus, a chemical distribution business located at the intersection of Hwy. K and Hwy. N.

Caudle said a worker found his 35-year-old colleague unresponsive inside an empty chemical tanker attached to a semi outside the facility. It’s believed the worker was cleaning the inside of the tanker.

The call came in around 5:45 p.m.

The cause of death is unknown at this time.

Caudle said that because this is a workplace facility, he will notify the proper state and federal authorities, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
