Annual ‘Run for the Wall’ motorcycle ride to make annual stop in Mt. Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (KFVS) - The annual Run for the Wall motorcycle ride returns to Mount Vernon on May 19.

Participants will stop for fuel and lunch at the Mt. Vernon Airport. Organizers say it’s the only stop in Illinois.

Hundreds of riders traveling from California to Washington, D.C. are expected in Mt. Vernon before the group continues eastbound on its journey.

Community members are encouraged to line the route and wave flags to show support.

“Hosting Run For The Wall is always a meaningful experience for Mt. Vernon,” Chris Braden, Illinois state coordinator, said in a news release. “It’s an opportunity for our community to come together and honor the sacrifices made by our veterans and service members while extending Southern Illinois hospitality to those participating in this incredible journey.”
