THEBES, Ill. (HEARTLAND WEEKEND) - The Thebes Historical Society will host its annual Memorial Day weekend event on Sunday, May 24.
According to organizers, the event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be Kentucky Hillbilly BBQ sandwiches, as well as chips, ice cream, sodas and bottled water.
A community service will be held inside the courthouse at 10 a.m. with worship led by Apostolic Lighthouse of Thebes and a message by their pastor, Steven Turner.
Raffle tickets will be on sale for the Thebes Historical Society’s patriotic quilt, commemorating America’s 250th birthday. It was embroidered by Faye Prater and Joanne Sissom.

The winning ticket will be drawn on June 20, following the group’s Murder Mystery dinner show, which will be held at the Olive Branch Community Center.
Following the group’s opening event, the Thebes Courthouse will begin the 2026 tourism season, with regularly scheduled tours on Sundays from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
