CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - A free kids day event took place on Saturday, May 16, to promote health, safety and family fun.
Kids Day was from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center.
Hosted by Victory Spinal Care, the event featured free bike safety tips, a fire department meet-and-greet, car seat safety, health screenings, games and more.
“I feel like health and safety is so important, and this is information that kids sometimes don’t get in their regular curriculum, every day activities,” said Organizer Dr. Arielle Bohnart. “It’s just a really great opportunity to promote health in our community.”
Kids also had the opportunity to participate in yoga.

“They were so excited to do the yoga, but their faces were so serious! And they listened to every word, and they were really taking it in,” said Yoga Instructor Erica Cooper. “It was such a treat, and they were so much fun.”
Kids Day supported CPSEMO by raising awareness and money for children in need in the region.
“This event is all about giving back to families in our community and creating a safe, positive space for kids to learn and have fun,” Dr. Kathleen King of Victory Spinal Care, said in a news release. “We are excited to bring together local organizations and volunteers to make a meaningful impact.”
