HARRISBURG, Ill. (KFVS) - Southeastern Illinois College will offer a new Electric Vehicle Essentials course this summer.
Students will gain experience working with electric vehicle systems, including high-voltage safety, electrical components and diagnostic procedures. The course will also offer hands-on opportunities for students to build, test and drive a Switch electric vehicle.
It is a three-credit course with no prerequisites. A maximum of 14 students can enroll.
“This course gives students a chance to work directly with emerging vehicle technology,” said Robbie Lindhorst, EV and Diesel Technology Instructor at SIC. “They won’t just learn the theory — they’ll build, test and drive an electric vehicle, which is where the real understanding happens.”
The course will begin on June 7 and run for eight weeks. Classes will meet on Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
