CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - May is Historic Preservation Month, and one local organization is taking this time to showcase Cape Girardeau’s past.

“In terms of preservation and preservation of memory, it’s just like a human being. When a person starts to lose their memory, they begin to kind of lose themselves and their sense of identity,” said Coordinator of the Historic Preservation Commission Dr. Steven Hoffman. “And so for us, today, preserving places that remind us of who we’ve been and where we’ve been is really important.”
