SOUTHERN Ill. (KFVS) - The Southern Illinois Pagan Alliance will celebrate Beltane on Sunday, May 3.
The free public event is open to all ages.
According to organizers, it will be at Giant City State Park’s Shelter 2.
It starts at noon with a children’s maypole scheduled for 1 p.m. and the full ritual to follow at 2 p.m. There will also be a potluck.
According to organizers, participants are asked to bring 15-30 feet of ribbon to wrap around the maypole. The children’s maypole requires 10-15 feet of ribbon.

They say, traditionally, Beltane is a fire festival, welcoming the warmth of summer and fertility.
Organizers recommended choosing a ribbon color and pattern with your intentions for the summer in mind.
