ANNA, Ill. (KFVS) - Shawnee Community College celebrated the purchase of its Union County Extension Center in Anna, Illinois, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
According to the college, the purchase of the facility plays a role in developing career and technical education, health sciences programming and community-based learning opportunities.
College leadership, board members, community members and business partners came together to celebrate on Friday, April 10.
The facility also supports partnerships with nearby schools, businesses and organizations.
“At its core, the Union County Extension Center is about access. Not abstract access, but real, practical access,” said Dr. Tim Taylor, Shawnee Community College President. “Access to education that is closer to home. Access to training that leads somewhere. Access to training opportunity for individuals who may not have a clear path forward.”
