SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) - The city of Sikeston held a ceremony to honor fallen Officer Henry Franklin and dedicate a new bench in his memory.

Sikeston Department of Public Safety Officer Franklin was killed in the line of duty in October 2025.

The ceremony took place at Sikeston Veterans Park on Saturday, April 11.

The public watched the unveiling of the bench along with city and state officials, the American Legion and friends and family.

Amy Eastman, Officer Franklin’s sister, expressed her gratitude for the ceremony.

“We really appreciate it,” Eastman said. “We hate that we lost him. It hurts every day, but we do appreciate the city of Sikeston coming together and doing this for him, and something that we can drive by and see every day.”

“I appreciate everything that he’s done for our community,” said Chief James McMillen. “Like many of these officers, men and women that serve, do probably more than people realize, and he really, he had a heart to do that... and he was a special guy for sure.”

All equipment and materials were donated by area businesses.
