CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. (KFVS) - The Caruthersville Police Department announced they are conducting a coordinated saturation effort, which is why there is an increased presence of officers out on Saturday evening, March 28.
Officials say they are conducting the coordinated saturation effort due to a recent rise in criminal activity, along with complaints of reckless driving in the community.
They say the purpose of the effort is an attempt to remove illegal guns, drugs and criminal elements off the streets.
Officers will be patrolling, conducting traffic reinforcement and addressing criminal activity.
Caruthersville police, Pemiscot County deputies, Missouri state troopers, the ATF and the SEMO Drug Task Force are participating in the effort.
