CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Southeast Missouri State University will host its first-ever Young Writers’ Studio for high school students on Friday, April 10.
Students will have the opportunity to develop their craft, connect with peers and share their work with the community.
Here is the agenda for the day:
- 8:30 a.m. - Check in at the Grauel Building lobby
- 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Generative Workshop & Writing
- 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. - Lunch at the Grauel Building lobby
- 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Revision Workshop & Writing
- 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. - Performance or Publishing Workshop
- 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. - Reception and Reading in Rose Theater (open to the public)
“We want students to meet others from across the region and realize they’re not alone in their love of writing,” said Dr. Jenny Cropp, associate professor of English at SEMO, who is organizing the studio.
Workshops will be led by poets and authors, John Gallaher, Luke Rolfers and Missy Nieveen-Phegley.

The event is open for students in grades 9-12 and is free to attend.
March 30 is the last day to register.
