WICKLIFFE, Ky. (KFVS) - Two Rivers Fisheries announced that they will conduct their first-ever shipment of silver carp to customers in Ukraine.
The company processes and exports Asian carp products to international markets and serves 11 countries. Ukraine is now the 12th country to receive shipments from them.
Two Rivers Fisheries has partnered with commercial fishers to remove invasive Asian carp from bodies of water in western Kentucky, western Tennessee, Illinois and Mississippi. They have removed 32 million pounds from freshwater ecosystems.
“Our goal is to fully utilize the Asian carp resource,” said Angie Yu, President and CEO of Two Rivers Fisheries.
The company has developed a “zero-waste” approach when it comes to Asian carp utilization. Through processing by-products, they support the production of:
- Pet food products
- Jewelry made from fish bones
- Leather materials from fish skin
- Fishmeal
- Fish oil
