ALTO PASS, Ill. (KFVS) - A southern Illinois orchard officially unveiled its historical marker.

Rendleman Orchards hosted a dedication ceremony on Friday, April 3 at 12 p.m.

We caught up with Senator Dale Fowler, who shared a word on the farm’s legacy.

“This is going to be here for generations to come, and the Sirles family, such special people, and they not only run an incredible business but they also give back to the community,” Sen. Fowler said.

During the ceremony, they unveiled their historical marker for the Rendleman Orchards Historic District, which was recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

“I hope that this makes a nice impact on southern Illnois and encourages more travelers to Alto Pass, Union County and southern Illinois,” she said. “I hope it also encourages others to start documenting their rich history and celebrate everything we have here in southern Illinois.”
