ALTO PASS, Ill. (KFVS) - A southern Illinois orchard will officially unveil its historical marker in April.
Rendleman Orchards will host a dedication ceremony on Friday, April 3 at 12 p.m.
They will unveil their historical marker for the Rendleman Orchards Historic District, which was recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
According to a news release from Rendleman’s, the ceremony will honor Union County’s fruit-growing legacy and the orchard’s multi-generational role in southern Illinois agriculture.
“This designation is not simply about honoring where we have been,” Michelle Sirles of Rendleman Orchards said in the news release. “It is about intentionally building what comes next. We believe historic farms can serve as living classrooms, economic drivers, and gathering places for their communities.”
Rendleman Orchards was established more than 150 years ago.
