CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - SIU will celebrate Women’s History Month with a variety of events in March.
The theme this year is “Leading with Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future.”
“It’s a time to celebrate and to reflect on the past, present and future accomplishments and achievements of women through guest speakers, luncheons, research circles, movies and many other events,” said Renada Greer, executive director of the Student Multicultural Resource Center.
Saluki Women Speak luncheon - Friday, March 6
The event will feature a panel discussion about women’s achievements and challenges in higher education.

The event will also have an awards ceremony to celebrate international women who support other women academically.
The luncheon will take place from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in rooms 150/160 of the Student Services building.
The luncheon is free, but pre-registration is required by Thursday, March 5.
SIU Women’s Film Festival - Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17
The festival will feature films created by and about women.

The films will highlight diverse voices and lived experiences.
The festival will take place in Morris Library’s John C. Guyon Auditorium.
The event is free and open to the public.
Details regarding the exact schedule will come out soon.
Paulette Curkin Pride Resource Center is set to host the festival.
SIU will also host a screening of “The Six Triple Eight” at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 27. The screening will take place at the Student Center Auditorium.
Saluki Women in Research Showcase - Monday, March 30
Participants can present their research, scholarly projects and academic interests. All fields of study are welcome to participate.
Participants must submit poster presentations by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 20. The presentations must contain research related to women and girls, including issues relevant to challenges, achievements and lived experiences.
The showcase will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Services Building.
