5th Annual Shawnee Plunge to benefit Equality Fire Dept., Friends of Shawnee National Forest

SOUTHERN Ill. (KFVS) - The 5th Annual Shawnee Plunge will raise money for the Equality Fire Department and the Friends of the Shawnee National Forest.

Take the plunge on Saturday, March 7 at Pounds Hollow Recreation Area in the Shawnee National Forest.

The event will include a Forest Therapy Walk to Rim Rock at noon, as well as on-site registration and check-in for the plunge.

Musician John West will perform from noon to 2 p.m. and then participants should be ready to take the plunge at 2 p.m.

Organizers say prizes will be awarded for best team costume.

A food truck will begin serving at 11 a.m.

They say there will be other games and activities throughout the day.

Pre-registration is $40. You can pre-register online at shawneefriends.org.

Registration on the day-of the event is $50 cash or check only.
