Union County Museum in Cobden, Ill. set to reopen on March 7

COBDEN, Ill. (KFVS) - The Union County Museum in Cobden, Illinois, will reopen on Saturday, March 7 at 1 p.m., after being closed for the winter.

The museum will feature a new map collection display. The collection will show the development of the North American continent, the establishment of the 13 original colonies, the addition of western lands and the coming of railroads.

There will also be an exhibit about John A. Logan, who was a general in the Civil War and a U.S. senator.

Both of the exhibits will be on display until early summer.

The Museum’s shop will also be open, offering spring items, Easter items, artificial flowers, vintage kitchen items, studio pottery and more. Proceeds will go towards the operation of the museum.

The museum is operated by the Union County Historical and Genealogy Society.

The Union County Museum is located at 117 S. Appleknocker Drive in Cobden, Ill. Regular hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and occasional Friday afternoons.
