ILLINOIS. (KFVS) - The Illinois Department of Conservation, along with several other police departments, is spreading a “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaign.
The Super Bowl Safety campaign runs from Friday, February 6, to Monday, February 9.
Stephane B. Seck-Birhame, IDOT’s bureau chief of Safety Programs and Engineering, said, “Before the game begins, designate a driver or make other arrangements for a safe, sober ride so that you, your passengers and everyone on our roads can return home safely. Driving impaired is the worst decision you can make. It’s also 100% avoidable.”
IDOT says that drinking isn’t the only risk. Cannabis and other drugs, such as prescription and over-the-counter medications, can slow reaction time and affect judgment.
Walking impaired is also dangerous, so designate a sober friend to walk you home if needed.
