CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - A presentation and documentary screening about Black political organizing and influence within the Chicago Democratic political machine will take place in Carbondale and Springfield.
The “Citizen Bowen Docufilm and Book Tour” will be on January 19.
Following the screening, the event will feature a talkback with Charles Bowen, one of the few surviving insiders from the transformative era of Chicago politics from 1949 to 2005.
The times and locations are:
- Dove Conference Center, 619 E. Mason St., Springfield, from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
- Southern Illinois African American Heritage Center, 1237 E. Main St. in the University Mall, Carbondale, from 5 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
