SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) - A two-day Authentic German Christmas Market is happening at Concordia Lutheran Church in Sikeston.
It runs from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 19, and from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20.
The market will include craft activities for children and a visit from St. Nicholas.
Vendors will be selling handmade goat soap, candles, quilts, woodwork pieces, art, ornaments, decorations, pet products and more.
There will also be food for purchase, including cookies and breads.

Payment will be cash-only for concessions. Some vendors may accept cashless payment.
It’s the first year for the market, but more than 300 people have already shown interest online.
Debi Porter said the idea for the market came from the desire to help more people engage with German Lutheran heritage.
“Everybody knows about it in Perry County and Cape County, but do they really know south of Benton? Do those people down there in the southern bootheel of Missouri really know about the traditions of the German Lutheran? So we thought this is a good way to do it.”
The market is happening in conjunction with the Scott County Christmas Church Tour. Several area churches will open their doors from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, for people to enjoy decorations and refreshments while learning about history.

“We’re excited to open it up and just see who all we’re able to interact with, especially in our community,” Amanda Berry said. “We are a historical church. We’ve been in Sikeston for over 100 years, but there’s still people we run into that are like, ‘Concordia? Here in Sikeston? Where is that?’”
Berry said funds raised through the market will go toward renovations to make the historic church building more accessible.
