MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (KFVS) - City leaders in Mount Vernon invite the public to join downtown holiday events including the lighting of the Christmas tree.
The Christmas tree lighting will be on Saturday, November 22 at 6 p.m. at The Commons.
While the 28-foot Christmas tree has been glowing since October as part of the city’s fall program, community leaders say the ceremony marks its transition to full Christmas colors.
There will also be new light features installed throughout The Commons.
“We love seeing families gather in our community during the holidays,” said Tourism Director Angela Schrum. “The addition of The Commons, its new lighting features and the brilliant Christmas display on the 28-foot tree add fresh magic to this tradition. We’re proud to continue elevating the holiday experience in Mt. Vernon and hope everyone comes out to celebrate with us.”
