ALTENBURG, Mo. (KFVS) - The “Best Little Fair in the Land” returns to southeast Missouri with live music, mule jumping and more.

According to organizers, the East Perry Community Fair has free admission, free parking and free entertainment.

It will open with a parade at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 19. It will have floats, bands and the opening ceremony featuring the grand marshal.

Former Buchheit Inc. President and CEO Kenny Buchheit, along with his wife and business partner, Rhonda, will serve as the Grand Marshals of the parade.

The parade route begins at Maple Street in Altenburg and travels east down Main Street until it reaches Church Street. It then makes a right turn and heads south on Church Street until it ends at the fairgrounds.

As a reminder, fair organizers say traffic into Altenburg stops around 1 p.m. so the parade lineup can be organized. They recommend you plan to arrive early to find a good viewing spot and to avoid heavy traffic.

According to organizers, the fair will have eight musical performances starting with Jason Heeter at 4 p.m. on Friday followed by Still Standing at 7 p.m.

They say Saturday’s music will start at noon and feature Wes of Blue Collar Roots, Landon Overbey, Julie Triller, Dani Bishop, Clint Sattler, and SilverTone.

The “World Champion” Jumping Mule Competition starts at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Organizers say it features three classes of mules based on the height of the mule, as well as a fourth open class where the top jumpers from the other classes will participate.

Other events include the 4x4 Truck Pull at 6 p.m. on Friday and the Hot Rod Tractor Pull at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Most of the livestock judging and shows will take place throughout the day on Saturday, ending with the 4-H and FFA sale of all types of livestock at 5 p.m.
