CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - The For Kids’ Sake International Superhero 5K Run/Walk will return to Carbondale this fall.
According to organizers, this hybrid race takes place Saturday, September 20, at 9 a.m. at Turley Park.
Local participants will take off from the starting line at 1010 N. Glenview Drive while virtual participants complete their 5K run/walk wherever they are.
Participants are encouraged to assemble teams, come dressed as their favorite superheroes, compete for prizes and fundraise for children in need.
This fundraiser benefits children in southern Illinois, Bangladesh and The Gambia.

There will be vendors, a live DJ and an award ceremony with prizes for the fastest overall runners, top fundraisers, best superhero costumes and more.
Organizers say any participant who donates or fundraises $350 or more will receive a free Carhartt backpack.
Registration is open now at www.forkidssakeintl.org/superhero5k. It is $25 for adults and $15 for kids 17 and younger.
T-shirts will be guaranteed for anyone who registers by September 4.
