BENTON, Ill. (KFVS) - The annual Beach Blast at Rend Lake will be on Saturday, June 8.
According to a release from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, it will be from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at South Sandusky Beach.
Several activities will include beach games, a DJ, a sand sculpture contest, a helicopter landing and more.
Emergency response personnel will give demonstrations:
- Sesster Fire Protection District will bring their firetruck and let kids explore inside
- Abbott EMS will bring an ambulance and give hands-only CPR demonstrations
- The Air-Evac Lifeteam 35 will land a helicopter near the beach around 3 p.m. Kids will have a chance to climb inside for photos
From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., there will be a shoreline cleanup event as part of the Leave No Trace Spotlight at Rend Lake. Gloves and bags will be provided for volunteers.
The event is free and open to the public. Organizers say day-use fees at South Sandusky Beach will be waived for the event.
