CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - You can have breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 9 at the Shawnee Park Center.
According to organizers, the breakfast will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. It is for ages 12 and under.
“We are ready to kick off Christmas here at the Parks and Recreation Department, and it starts this weekend,” said Penny Williams, recreation manager.
All attendees must buy a ticket. It costs $8 per pre-registered guest and $10 per guest day-of. Funds raised go to benefit the Parks and Recreation Foundation.
Breakfast will include donuts, muffins, biscuits and gravy, milk and juice. To prepare for that, organizers have six 5-pound bags of eggs and 300 pieces of bacon ready to go.
Santa will arrive about 9 a.m.
“He usually comes in a special way each year, we’ll keep that a secret,” said Moriah Lincoln, recreation coordinator.
Children will have the chance to tell Santa what they want directly, or give him a letter for later. Parents are invited to bring their camera to capture the moment.
Attendance numbers have increased in recent years, and organizers hope that trend will continue.
“The excitement is just, you can feel it in the air, because the kids are all there,” said Williams. “It’s just a feeling of Christmas, the joy of Christmas.”
Ahead of Breakfast with Santa, the department is hosting a Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt on Friday, December 8. That’s from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Shawnee Park Center.
