City of Carbondale to hold ribbon cutting for new multi-use bike path

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - The city will hold a ribbon cutting for a new multi-use bike path.

According to the city, the ceremony will be at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27. It will be at the trailhead, north of Oakland Cemetery.

Mayor Harvey will be at the ceremony. City leaders will reveal the name of the newest path.

According to the city, the path, which was recently finished, is located on North Oakland Ave., north of the Oakland Cemetery, across from the Green Earth Oakland Preserve. It’s a mile-long paved multi-use path that connects North Oakland Ave. and New Era Road.

The bike path was funded by a Transportation Enhancement Program grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
