CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - An inaugural family friendly festival is coming to the Cape Girardeau riverfront.
The Riverfront Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 22 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Water Street and Riverfront Park along the floodwall.
According to ALyssa Phares, with the Cape Girardeau Convention & Visitors Bureau, they have secured several vendors, including those geared toward children.
Phares says event will feature live music, children’s activities, food and drinks, entertainment, southeast Missouri artisans and more.
“We also have an esoteric area,” said Phares. “We’ll have palm reading, maybe some tarot cards, just a little separate area for those specific vendors.”
There will also be several children’s activities, including a costume contest, games, face painting and more.
Ahead of the festival, organizers created at special naming contest to get the community involved in the planning process.
They wanted the public to vote on a name for their ‘pardoned pumpkin.’
Participants chose from Gourdon, Poppy, Louis, Ichabod and Libby.
Phares said ‘Gourdon’ was chosen mascot name for this year’s pardoned pumpkin, with 53 percent of the vote. Ichabod came in second and will be a mascot name option for next year.
