Comics will come to life at Cape Comic Con 2020

Comics will come to life when Cape Comic Con returns to Cape Girardeau.

Events are set to fill the Osage Centre starting Friday, July 10, and continue through Sunday, July 12.

Cape Comic Con was originally scheduled to go on in April, but the dates were moved due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In order to keep the virus from spreading, people attending Cape Comic Con will be required to wear masks. Vendors will be spaced out to encourage social distance.

Organizers are also limiting the number of people allowed inside.

“We want everyone to know that we are acting as safe as we possibly can,” director Ken Murphy said.

One of the big highlights at this year’s comic con: an appearance by Flash Gordon.

Sam Jones played the title character in the 1980 film.

Other actors set to make appearances include Austin St. John who played in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Reb Brown in Captain America 1 and 2.

Several famous wrestlers will also bring their game faces to Cape Comic Con. The lineup includes Papa Shango, Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara, and Priscilla Kelly.

In addition to meeting famous folks, there are hundreds of vendors, games, a costume contest, and of course all the comics your nerdy heart desires.

Doors will open at Cape Comic Con on Friday at 4 p.m.

The fun will continue starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday.
