Appletime fun will return to Murphysboro this fall for the annual Apple Festival.
Organizers are inviting the community to celebrate 69 years of tradition on Sept. 18 and 19.
The theme for this year’s event will be Murphysboro Strong, a message of hope amid the ongoing battle with the coronavirus pandemic.
In a letter, The Apple Festival Committee explained why they are dedicated to holding the event:
The committee said festival-goers can expect the Appletime fun to look different this year.
Some events will be modified, others might need to be postponed until 2021.
However, the committee said this year the focus will be on the core traditions of the Apple Festival.
At this time, organizers are still working out the details of what this year’s festival will look like.
The committee said it will be working with the City of Murphysboro, the Jackson County Health Department, local organizations, and downtown businesses to keep the celebration fun and safe.
